I have recently begun burning my own CDs with collections of my favorite songs. I've used the Sonic Record Now program, and the burn function in Windows Media Player. When I play the discs on my car player, and on portable "boom box" type players they skip and pause alot, even when they are brand new and not at all dirty. Some have played without problem for a time, but then after several plays begin to have problems, again, even when clean. What might be my problem? The quality of blank discs I buy, or the software I use to burn them, or...? Thanks

it's usually the quality of the discs, and nothing to do with your PC, the cd-writer or the burning software. Might even be those external players don't like those discs. Buy a couple of Sony or Philips discs rather than buying a lot just to start with, and if they burn and play ok you'll know which to buy some more of.
