Are you running XP? ... if so, have you attempted to have windows repair the connection? Go to Start + Control Panel + Network and Internet Connections + Network Connections. You should see the icon for your connection there even if it is set to disabled.
Right click on your connection icon and select "Repair or Enable" If no love with either option, right click on the connection icon and select "Status + "Properties" - on the general tab at the top you will see "connect using:" Is your ethernet or onboard LAN listed in this box? If so select "Configure"
If your not using XP or your connection is still disabled please let me know and supply the OS you are using.

I am using XP Home, and the thing it it says it is enabled, so I can't enable/repair it, and it is not in the Network Connections screen.

Would it be possible to create a new Local Area Connection with my router? The real problem is, the icon says it is enabled, but the ethernet port lights aren't lit up. And when i try and right-click then disable i get the error.
