All of a sudden last night I had all these problems with my computer. I think I had smitfraud.c and I got rid of it already. I've been through all the steps on your other page. My computer isn't nearly as sluggish as it was before I ran through all of the antivirus and spyware programs, but there's a red circle with a white x icon in my tray. I can't right click on it, and if I double click on it, it brings me to a hotoffers.com site. There's a couple different popups that come out of this icon, too, the same as the hijacked by hotoffers.com topic. The only problem is, I couldn't find any of the problem items in my log to have fixed, and I couldn't get rid of this stupid icon. Here's my log:

I'm just glad to have someone smarter than me look at this for me... I've been driving myself crazy! It seems like I have the same symptoms as a lot of other people (annoying desktop icons that come back after being deleted, reset homepage, randomly being directed to a hotoffers website, and the red circle icon in my tray), but I never have all of the same files or processes running that other people have. Thanks in advance! Here's a fresh log:

Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking the red 'Delete File' button after pasting:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\param32.dll

Click 'Exit' when done.

Make sure that you have no other browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entry by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.hotoffers.info/ad0058/

Reboot when done. Rescan with HJT and post a new log for a final check over.

Runs great. My only question is if you know about any other cleanup I might need to do. I might just be paranoid, but I felt like my hard drive kept filling up faster than it should have been for the things that I was doing... is there any chance this is true? Can there be some bs files wasting space on my computer?

There's nothing showing in your log to cause concern. We can do a deep scan to see if there are any residual baddies on your system. Click here to download eScan's mwav application. Double-click it to run it, select all local drives, scan all files, press 'scan' and when it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane. Highlight it, CTRL C and paste it in your next reply.
