Thanks in advance for any suggestions! My CPU is at 100%. I am able to start in the Safe Mode. I have completed a Disk Clean and defrag of drives C and D. I do not have any backup disks, as we had a flood and they were lost/destroyed. I am clueless on how to proceed. There must be some program running endlessly. Once identified, how would I then repair the program and/or restore the system? BR549inSolon

Right click on your taskbar (where your start menu is located), and click on "Task Manager". When that window opens, click on the tab that says "Processes". Then to sort the processes by CPU usage, you will have to click on the "CPU" column twice. Typically, there will be a process running called "System Idle Process", and it should have a high CPU usage. If you have a process that is taken up all your CPU, then it will be on top.

Back to work today. Good Monday to you! Your easy to follow instructions led me to find that AOLServiceHost.exe is eating up 99% of my CPU. Our home internet service provider is Netscape which one daughter uses to access Facebook. The oldest two kids have in the past used instant message services, however when now home from college they have their own laptops. Is there any trick in deleting AOLServiceHost.exe and killing it all? Many thanks for your help!

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

Any AOL related entry

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Also, I would recommend that you take a look at THIS POST and run through a spyware and virus scan. If you still are having the same problems, post a HijackTHis log in the Malware forum. This problem could also be related to a malware problem as they sometimes disguise themselves as this process.
