Okay, when I was building what I assumed would be a powerhouse, I bought a nice fast processor, plenty of RAM, etc. The motherboard I purchased is this:

I bought an AMD Athlon XP 2600 (or 2400 I forget) Barton Core, which should run at or around 2Ghz. Instead, I have a 1.09Ghz processor and I think I know why.

If you click on the "View Large Image" on the motherboard screen and scroll right, you'll see a blue box with some switches. Well, that's the bus speed box. I need to get that up to 333Mhz, but since I know nothing about the actual switch flipping and the motherboard came with no instructions whatsoever for it, I'm up in the air on how to do it.

Anyone have any advice? I may just take it to a local computer shop and say: "You, may who I pay $50/hr! Fix! Make fast!"

Did some digging through my computer box, it was an Athlon XP 2600. Also to protect my inferiority complex (What? Processors are HOW fast now?) This system was bought in pieces over a year ago and assembled a few months ago.

First here is the manual for your mobo you will need it go here

Goto page 17 of the manual it has the jumper settings for the cpu, you should be able to use auto to allow bios to detect your 2600 cpu and set it automaticly.

find the CLK_RATIO jumpers on the mobo and make sure all 6 are set to off.

Then find the CLK_SW and make sure the jumper is set to on. This is most likely the problem because it is set to off

This should allow the cpu to run at its rated speed. Right now the AMD spec site is down and I am unsure of just what the 2600 should run at but its something around 1950 mhz but I'll get that info and post back.

If this don't work let me know and we will look at bios settings next.

Btw even though its a 2 ghz cpu it will perform as well or better then a intel 2.6
