I have a new PC and I have transferred over quite a few video clips, mainly funny stuff and music, but these used to play on my old PC fine, but now they are playing in black and white, when they used to play in colour on the old PC.

I have downloaded and installed

K Lite Codec Pack 3.5.3
The latest DivX pack
XVid 1.1.3

I was wondering if this is a codec problem and if it is, can anyone suggest any other codec packs that I may have missed, as it is annoying.

I have also tried using VLC player, as I was told this has it's own codecs, but all video files (even new ones) are now playing in Black & White on my new PC.

Any suggestions to solve this problem would be appreciated.

Have you tried checking for the latest manufacturer's graphics card driver online? Try with WMP (windows media player):

view
enhancements, color chooser, reset

Or try using GSpot to identify a missing/problem codec.

Additionally:

Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility (Requires Validation)
Download Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility (Non-Microsoft site DL)
