Though I've tried everything suggested in this forum, nothing worked. Browser windows open and icons appear on the desktop. This started today, 4/18/05; I tried restoring this had no effect. Now I'm getting "rundll errors" at start-up.

Norton found a couple trojans shortly after this happened; but there must be something more. Browser windows opens on their own makes me irritated, but it makes me nervous too.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Shaena

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Click Start > Run and type: cmd and then click OK! This brings up a command prompt window.
At the command prompt opens, type the following command into the run box nail.exe /FullRemove and then hit the enter key:

Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once -> Click Task Manager -> Click the Processes tab -> Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the processes -> Scroll through the list and look for:
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlvamn.exe
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lv8q09l5e.dll
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process -> Exit the Task Manager.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlvamn.exe
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.co...etup1.0.0.6.cab
O16 - DPF: {B8F2846E-CE36-11D0-AC83-00C04FD97575} - http://www.talkingbu...uddyinstall.exe
O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: BITS - C:\WINDOWS\system32\lv8q09l5e.dll
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlvamn.exe
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lv8q09l5e.dll
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Exit Explorer.Reboot as normal.

If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:
Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.
Run killbox and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes. Let the system reboot.
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlvamn.exe
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lv8q09l5e.dll
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Please post the logs From Panda virus scan and HJT.logWe will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.
