I use windows 2000 on a dell workstation precision 450 with a gig of ram.

Lately my browser has taken nearly 2 minutes to open when i try to access the internet and was told to free up some memory by doing the msconfig routine. Well the file is corrupted or missing because the command does not work.

Would sure appreciate some hand holding here to get this machine up and running like it use to.

Thanks,

Scott

It should be a malware problem. See this topic.

If it doesn't help, select Malware Removal Forum from my sig.

Thanks for the reply.

I did post a hijack log several days ago and have not heard a reply.

It can be found under this title:

Web browser takes 2 minutes to open, system is slow., IE6 takes 2 minutes to open, looking for a reason why?

MSCONFIG doesn't work, the internet browser takes 2 minutes to load, some pages load slow, some sites barely function.

I will try to be a patient client :-)

Thanks again,

Scott
