:tazz: I save hijackthis to a cd to put on my desktop. Then I created a folder to unzip the Hijackthis. Unfortunately I cant proceed with scanning my system.

Previously I attemped to load Norton software. It found a worm. Unfortanately the Norton needs to restart in order to complete a full scan. I believe the worm has infected my restart function procedures. I tried uninstalling and restalling. I tried booting from the CD but system halted and did not let me proceed.

My internet signup page is missingtsign features to get on the internet.

Since your internet seems to be working, can you run a few online scans for me?

Please run an on-line virus scan at Kaspersky OnLine Scan or if that doesnt work, you can use TrendMicro or BitDefender. (Please post the results of the scan(s) in your next reply)

After that, reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

In safe mode you should be able to run HiJackThis. Just scan and save the logfile somewhere you will remember. Then reboot into normal windows and open that logfile. Copy and paste its contents in a reply here.

I am blocked from signing onto the internet. Can I still do safe mode and load hijackthis? I previously had to save hijackthis to a CD and load it into the system.

You should be able to. Then you can take the log to the other computer with a floppy disk (it should be more than small enough to fit).
