I'm a senior with limited PC terminology & experience so be patient. I have popup stoppers but I'm still getting a popup that states: " Potential spyware operation! Your computer is making unauthorized copies of your system & internet files. Run full scan to prevent any unauthorized access to your files. Download spyware removal now". Of course I've not downloaded it because I figure it is a hoax. I've run virus scan & show no virus. How can I get rid of this popup permanently? Thanks for help.

What kind of Popup blockers are you using?
You may want to try and install Mozilla Firefox ->
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

It has an inbuilt pop-up blocker that blocks almost all pop-ups. Many users are satisfied with, including me!

Howdy and welcome to GTG:

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Thanks for reply. I think I have Google popup stopper. I have also lost my control panel so I don't know for sure what I have. I do know I have AVG virus scanner. Thanks again for your help.
