retrieving past IM chats from my computers hard drive

I want retrieve some past im chats from my computers hard drive, but can't figure out how to locate them. I did not intentionally save them but i guess they're still there. If some could tell me how to access them it would be greatly appreciated.

Yahoo Messenger and ICQ - probably.
MSN - unless you told it to log the chats at the time, they're never saved and once you sign out/close the chat they're gone forever.
