Every so often my dsl-200 modem decides to go to sleep on its self disconnecting me.

The 'Power' light still stays on as its still connected via USB but the adsl light goes off.

When i try to re-connect, it wont work giving me a message "error opening port' (i think)

The only way i can get around this, is if i completely disconnect the power to the modem, wait a second than reconnect, everyhting goes back to normal and im able to re-connect.

Its always fixable but annoying, does any one have any ideas on what might be the cause of this abnormality? I assume its the modem or some kind of time out.....however...it does it once in a blue moon, sometimes im able to stay connected for a full day with no disconnection, other times it will dump me an hour after connecting.

Any help, greatly appreciated

PS - If it makes any difference im on a 1.5 Meg plan

Try turning off power saving for USB Root Hubs from Device Maneger. Right click My Computer-->Properties-->Hardware and choose Device Manager there. Now open Universal Serial Bus controlleres, for each USB Root Hub, right click-->Properties-->Power Management and untick "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save poewr".

Edit: According to the DSL-200 FAQ, it also could be drivers problem. You can download here the latest driver.
