I am currently running Windows XP Pro. Today I discovered this trojan using AVG anti-virus software, but AVG does not allow me to either quarantine or heal the effected files. Help will be appreciated.

Hi:

Please go to the Malware section of this forum and follow the instructions at the top. Especially the Click Here link. That will give you several steps that will help you clean up most of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the cleanup process you are still having difficulty, and you may not be, then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

Please be patient as the "Malware Forum" is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the Malware Section, please return to this thread. Please do not post a HiJackThis log in this thread unless asked to do so and then only as an attachment. To attach log, when requested, either change the .log extension to .txt, or put the log into a compressed (zipped) folder.

Please post back if your problem has been solved.

Thanks for your response and your time as well. I no longer exist as a user on my machine and have been unable to download hijack this. I will continue trying but AVG was unable to do anything but find the trojans Agent.MKK (Generic6.ABYX). I am using XP Pro, but don't have a system disc as it was installed by atechnician who replaced my burned out hard drive. I have attempted to do a system restore but have goteen a message stating the "device, path...could not be found or I didn't have permissions to run it" . Things are not looking good.

Sorry to hear about the additional problems. You must have admin rights to go through a lot of what the Malware Experts on this forum will want you to do. They are very good at solving malware problems.

May I suggest you put in another post about your other problems giving details and possibly someone will be able to help you recover enough to take of your malware.
