Well, I seem to have a slight problem when starting up windows.

So, I turn on the computer, it shows the dell logo, and then it goes to a black screen and says:

Loading PBR for Descriptor 2...
Bad PBR.

After this it doesn't continue with the start up sequence. It just stays on the screen and it doesn't really do anything.

It's been like this for about 3 months.

Help is much appreciated! :)

Partition Boot Record

Tell us please what happened before this problem. Did you do an update or anything?

Dell Computer?

Try booting up in Safe Mode.

(Continuously press the F8 key while booting up)

A Google search on bad pbr gets quite a few hits. Seems this happens to Dell systems quite a bit (though I've never seen it on either of mine).

Read through this entire thread, especially near the bottom where some suggestions for data recovery and fixing the problem are posted. You do not have to register, just scroll down till you get to the responses (it's quite a ways down so don't give up).
