Hey guys,

I got a problem on my parents computer. They use Outlook Express for their email client. No for about the last few days, the messages just keep disappearing from their mailbox. We would just watch it and they would all just vanish. I have scanned and scanned for malware, I came up with nothing, so I am coming here. They are running Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I have provided a SS that I find interesting. It shows my mom has 543 total messages, but only 43 show up in the actual inbox. Soon those 43 will dissappear as well. I have looked but can't find anything.

Please help!

Thanks,

Maybe the info in one of these has the answer:
The contents of my inbox disappeared! Can I recover?

In cases of severe corruption Outlook Express will no longer recognize that the DBX file exits, and so the corresponding folder will disappear from the Folder list. If however the corrupt file is Inbox.dbx, Outlook Express will sometimes create a new one and append a number to its name, such as Inbox(1).dbx. If this happens when you open the Inbox, you will see your Inbox messages disappear right before your very eyes!

or it may be just hiding read messages. Try this:

In Outlook Express, go to View>Current View and click "All Messages." See if the read messages reappear.

You're welcome. Let me know which one works for you and the link you found the info. May need it for my sister some day as she uses OE and refuses to change.

Hey and sorry for the delay.

The following worked.

In Outlook Express, go to View>Current View and click "All Messages." See if the read messages reappear.

Thanks again Ron!

You're welcome and thanks for posting back with what worked for you. Will keep that solution in mind (at my age it'll probably be gone soon). :)
