You are correct that the award is for one year at a time. However, many people are re-awarded every year on their award date. The award dates are Jan 1, April 1, July 1 and Oct 1. :)

Of course, and they are the only ones allowed to display their MVP banners for those years they are re-awarded.

That is correct. You cannot use the banner or logo once you have not been re-awarded. However, you CAN list that you are a "former MVP" or "200_ MVP"
