i just did system recovery in attempt to
get my cd/dvd drives working again and now
not only does that still not read anything or play anything
as was the original problem now we cant re install trend microsoft
because it wont read any disc and im sure its not installed because its
not on my add/remove programs list but its on my desk top
Help Please!!!!

Go to start/ run and type in "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes.
In device manager, are there any ? or ! , especially on the CD drives?

no there are no ?'s or !'s on them

Right click and uninstall them.
reboot and let the OS find them and reinstall them.

OS is operating system.
Sorry about that.

When you rebooted, did the drives reappear? Are they usable?

Well when i turned the computer back
on, nothing popped up so i went to the
device manager and it says its enabled.
