Dell 531, AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 5000+ 2.60 Ghz, 1982MB, 32 Bit OS

While surfing, sometimes page freezes, will not load in FF or IE. No bytes are being sent or received.
I have to sign out of MSN, and manually disconnect phone line. Reconnect and sign in again for it to
fix itself. Sometimes the page brightens (almost disappears) and the cursor arrow does disappear,
but the blue revolving circle remains. Once again I must close all windows, log off and log back in to
resolve problem. Also the alert sounds and welcome voice are garbled or stuttered.
Have contacted Dell numerous times. Get different fixes each time. Even sent me a new modem.
None of the fixes have worked for any of the 3 problems. I can hook up my old Compaq/windows XP
system and have none of these problems. :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated : )

Just because nobody has replied doesn't mean they are ignoring you. Your problem is an odd one, and may be hard to fix...

The brightening means the program is locking up...what sites does this happen with?

It's random. No specific sites.
