Ok so my computer has been slow for some time now. Before finding this forum, my friend who knows about computers suggested we do a Destructive System Restore. I backed up all of my files on an external hard drive and conducted the Restore. I also added 2 gigs of Ram as well. This alleviated my problems. My computer was brand new and lightning quick.

I stupidly downloaded a file off of limewire that was an exe file. I know I know. I'm pissed at myself. As soon as I executed the exe file, my Free AVG Anti-Virus found 2 viruses. The original virus and its backup. The machine cleaned the virus, but is still extremely slow and sluggish.

In the Virus Vault it shows that I have the Virus, (trojan horse Dropper.Generic.RGQ). The object path is: C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-4164078622-3879039836-1451730629-1009\Dc2.zip.

It keeps coming back and won't go away.

I went through all the steps recommended in the "You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Malware Cleaning Guide"

The following results were achieved:

1. I conducted the ATF Cleaner Successfully.
2. I did the System Restore step successfully.
3. I Downloaded AVG Anti Spyware and configured it the way you recommended. I ran it in Safe Mode, and it found something like 4 threats. After clicking on "Apply All Actions" I clicked on "Reports" as was suggested. No report was available even though I Selected "Automatically generate report after every scan" and Un-Selected "Only if threats were found" when I configured it, as was recommended. So I do not have a report for this scan.
4. I downloaded, installed and configured SUPERAntiSpyware Home Edition to your recommended specifications. Please find this log file pasted at the bottom of this post, under my signature.
5. I followed the instructions for the Online Panda ActiveScan step. 4 Times, the scan would start, but terminate right in the middle. Each time, it showed there were some spyware threats. The scan never completed and as a result, I don't have a report to provide for this step as well.
6. I rebooted, and I have the same slow, sluggish results on my computer. I was very tempted to Conduct another Destructive System Restore, and start over again, but Ryan in the chat room recommended that I not do that, and follow these steps instead.
7. Finally, I downloaded HiJack This to your recommended specifications. Please find this log file, and the uninstall list pasted at the bottom of this post, under my signature.

Thank you so much guys. I know you all have lives, and I believe that this is truly great of you for helping us less knowledgeable people in our computer safety needs.

Patiently waiting for your much needed assistance.

God Bless
~Ramzy =)

Hi, Ramzyh :)

Welcome.

I edited your font above as it was difficult to analise.

Lets see your recent activity:

Posted ImageDownload Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from here or here to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.

Tried it again a few more times. I'm still getting the same error message. The program is not running fully. It keeps cutting off in the middle of the scan. Should I try running it in Safe Mode? Any other alternatives? HELP! lol

Hi, Ramzyh :)

Lets try this application:

Download WinPFind35U.exe (BETA) to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind35u on your desktop.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of WinpFind35U.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with WinpFind35U or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Save that notepad file
Use the Reply button and attach the notepad file here (Do not copy and paste in a reply, rather attach it to it).

I ran the scan. It literally took 5 seconds to generate the report. I didn't change any of the scan options. I left everything at the default settings. Please see attachment.

The options were as follows. Please let me know if you want me to change any of the options then re run:

For processes it was on Non-Microsoft
Services it was on Non-Microsoft
Drivers it was on None
Registry it was on Non-Microsoft
File Strong Search it was on None
Rootkit Search it was on No (not Yes)
Files Created Within, it was on 30 Days Non-Microsoft Only was checked Always include Unicode Names was checked
Files Modified Within, it was on 30 Days Non-Microsoft Only was checked Always include Unicode Names was checked

Hi, Ramzyh :)

I don't see a problem in that log. The C:\RECYCLER folder is part of your Recycle Bin. You can remove that folder and it will be recreated by Windows.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\RECYCLER

  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Hi, Ramzyh :)

As I stated before, I see no signs of malware on those logs. Are you still experiencing the Dc2.zip detection by AVG?

The Virus name nor the Dc2.zip hasn't showed up the last few times, but the computer is still acting funny. A bit slow and sluggish. Could it possibly be something else that isn't Malware? Like a process that is constantly running, or something else?

Hi, Ramzyh :)

Lets check for hidden malware:

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**
