External Hard Drive Help!

The drive letter of my external hard drive was H: but suddenly it changed itself to I:
A cd drive let itself be H: but the thing is I only have two cd drives and they are both D: and E:

any ideas guys about how to force my computer to keep the external hard drive to I:?

Virtual CD drives such as those that come about when you install software like Daemon Tools and what not tend to take priority over removable USB drives like your external hard drives.
