I have been having a problem with my computer for the past coupl eof weeks.
First I started getting errors such as the TMP3E7 is not a valid image on your diskette. And stuff like that. I would get lots of errors such as those.
Then I started getting spware and viruses. I have never gotten these for some reason, as I have been lucky, and didnt know what these things are. I am good with Computer but since I have never experienced this type of stufff Im tottaly lost.
I downloaded Ad- Aware to delete many of my infections and i have ran Norton Scans but I still get pop ups such as "Your Ccomputer Has Been Effected" and "A critical error could occur", and i read on a site once that these errors come from the spyware StorageProtector and everynow and again StroageProtector installs itself on the comp in Program Files and runs a scan. I am also gettin fake messages on my Desktop of "Help and Support" icons, and "Windows Update" Stuff.
These are the problems that I have and I am gettin Bad Image errors too
Some of the spyware I find on Task Messenger that ihave to end process are:
strpmon .exe
uccokw.exe
and many more
Please help me, and tell me what I need to do
I can post my Hijackthis Log once someone can tell me how to do that
I have created a System Restore point just incase
Thanks in Advance

Hello

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Hello

Download ComboFix from one of the locations below, and save it to your Desktop.

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Ok. Thanks alot. I have performed the combo fix scan and it said deleted files/folders:
6 different versions of strpmon .exe
storage protector
and windows
All of these above were the files that were creating problems and when I restarted my computer and logged back on, I didnt get any startup errors or bad image errors!!!!! Also the 6000+ files I had in C:/ drive are all gone!!
And in the Windows Task Messenger, the files that use to come up and were the spyware, didnt show up either!!!!

I have a question, Do I repost my Hijackthis log from my last post or do I create a new one by clicking the HijackThis program???
For now I have posted in the next post a new version of the HijackThis log by clicking the program and creating a new one.

Heres my ComboFix log:

Bit more to do

Before we begin, you should save these instructions in Notepad to your desktop, or print them, for easy reference. Much of our fix will be done in Safe mode, and you will be unable to access this thread at that time. If you have questions at any point, or are unsure of the instructions, feel free to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum.

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt"

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Go to this site:
http://www.virustotal.com/
On top you'll find 'Browse'
Click the browse button and browse to the file:

C:\WINDOWS\Media\csrss.exe

Click open.
Then click the 'Send' button next to it.
This will scan the file. Please be patient.
Once scanned, copy and paste the results as well in your next reply.

Just one question, as i am sort of scared to go into safe mode and do this kind of stuff.
Should I create a System Restore Point before i do this stuff?
Also once I have got the report after going into safe mode, then should I do the copy paste and combo fix stuff or should i do it before?
thanks

You don't need to worry about doing these steps, they are perfectly safe

Do them in the order they are posted, so SDFix first then ComboFix

Hey,
Just making sure as I am bieng very carefull
Are you sure SDfix wont cause any problems to my computer?, because I have read that it is a program only trained people should use.
Also I have installed SDfix and at the end of installation it is saying, Some Installation Files are corrupt, please try installing again. Although the file SDfix is created in my C:/ folder.
