xp no beeps keeps restarting but not starting

i am working on an Advent T9204 pc running xp home edition p4 3.2ghz. there was a power cut and the machine went off and doesnt boot up further than choose best known configuration/ safe mode etc screen, whatever option you choose it starts going through system checks and stops at ACPI adapter and reloops back to choice menu. also there are no beeps only if I remove the memory cd works floppy works although I did have to change the signal cable for it to work.
