I have listed my new components in the right area so I hope to not have to give that detail here.
I have installed all drivers for M/B and graphics. I have tried using DVI-I to HDMI adapter to use an HDMI cable to my Samsung 40 HD ready LCD as the graphics card seems to have HDMI audio capability and have installed the correct driver. No sound though. Also tried connecting stereo speakers to the audio out on MB , again no sound. Basically I think I have tried everything but still no sound, with movies, Win sounds or anything.
Please help as this is driving me mad.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to G2G

Firstly, can you check that the sound card is correctly installed in device manager please (just run: devmgmt.msc) and that there's no yellow exclaimation marks or red crosses on anything.

Can you also confirm whether you have the speaker icon showing in the system tray.

When I asked if the sound card was installed correctly in device manager, that applies to onboard sound as well as add-on sound cards....

Can you tell me exactly what motherboard you have please? And if the video card is not onboard, then let me know which video card you have as well.
