What we are wondering is this:
If I have a dvd, and I upload it to my desktop, is there something I can do so that my daughter (using the laptop) can watch it?

You have been getting help on the assumption that this is a home movie.I see the 'similar' posts that show at the bottom of the page that relate to this subject were mostly never answered either, so I think this may be more difficult than seems

That is absolutely ridiculous. So the answer that you should transfer this home movie to your daughters laptop is realy the best solution!
