This is my first post, so I apologize in advance if this is not quite the proper way to go about getting assistance.

I have a Gateway Dual Processor running Windows XP. At logon and logoff, there is a box that appears in the middle of the screen that has no Title, only an "X" option for the box and has the contents of "fAIL".

Currently, my PC is consistently around 40% busy, even with nothing running.

I have run several Adaware and Spyware programs, and have removed all the "infections". Also, I have defragged my drive. However, my machine is still slow and continues to appear that it is busy.

Please help!
