Hi everyone,

My laptop wont play DVD movies right. They play all choppy and freeze sometimes. I use a few different movie players and it does the same with all of them. Windows media player 11 does the worst, it doesnt even play the DVD movie, I just get a green screen on the players screen. (not the whole laptopscreen) I think it is a virus or maybe i am doing something wrong or loaded the wrong things to my laptop. the laptops op system is:

Hi, fixit5561 :)

Except for Panda's findings, there is no sign of malware in those logs.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Viewpoint
    c:\temp\salm_gdf.dat
    c:\windows\system32\cache32_rtneg

  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Test and let me know how is it doing.

Its still jumpy when I play the DVD The Aviator it almost makes me sick watching it because it is so jumpy.

I dont have a clue as to why.

Do you know of a DVD player that wont do that, Im assuming that I have a large enough CPU and enough memory . The available memory worries me though with it being a 512 memory with only 132 available.

Thanks for all your help I do appreciate it

I figured it out by doing a google search.

If you go to this page and scroll down it explains why the DVD would play and be jumpy while doing it. http://winhlp.com/node/10

I just clicked on the *Click here* if you dont want to view the details and it changed the values back in the laptop to where it plays fine now. If you scroll down further it will tell you how to do it manually also. But it loads a program that fixes the values automatically for you. My primary and secondary were changed by this program and after I rebooted the DVD. played fine.

Thanks alot for all your help I would have never figured this out without you my freind!

Thanks again

I am glad you found the issue. The DMA (Direct Memory Access) was reset. That only works on ATA drives. I will share this information with our tech staff.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes.

  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Click on the CleanUp! button
  • A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to rech the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to beging the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process, choose Yes.

That should take care of OTMoveit2 and the quarantined files.
