Hello. I finally got the CDs that I needed and did that scan you told me too, but after the scan had finished nothing happened. Am I suppose to get something telling me whats wrong or is it not suppose to do anything. I'm a bit confused on what to do next thanks.

any help would be greatful thanks. I just need to know what I should do next to stop the slowness of my windows, and be able to download again thanks.

The Dell recovery CD normally supports non-destructive (install over) and destructive install.

Since you ran SFC with no results, your best bet now is to use the CD to do a Repair Install. This will replace XP but leave your data alone.

You will have to reinstall some software, especially anti-virus and firewall. You will also need to do all the Windows Updates again (90+ last time I checked).
