Hello to anyone willing to listen,
The error "Driver_Power_State_Failure" (Stop: 0x9f ... etc.) appears on BSOD after attempting to shut down. This just began happening after I installed a driver for a USB interface (Tascam US 122), although even after un-installing the driver, I still have this error... I tried updating the driver (after re-installing) but no success. I haven't been able to find any useful info by search either. Any ideas for a solution to the error (besides throwing my computer out the window- I've considered it) would be appreciated.
thanks, B.L.

Hello, and welcome to Geeks To Go.
Could you post the entire stop error for us?
This will greatly help us to help you.
does the computer boot up normally?
If you are able to use the machine, have you tried a restore point?

OKay, the complete error STOP: 0x0000009F (0x00000003, 0x8DBB9700, 0x8E23c028, 0x89EA9E28)
After the error screen appears when trying to shut down, it starts back up normally (giving the safe mode option). And I guess I am unfamiliar with doing a 'restore point'-- uncertain of such endeavours!
thanks again

That article refers to XP... do you think it applies to Vista?

I was concerned with the article being written for XP.
I believe that the fix will work with Vista as well.
Some issues have carried over from XP to Vista, and the fix works for both.
