Call of Duty Not running

I have installed Call Of Duty on my pc running XP,,,but whenever i try run it ,,it shows an error saying there is an invalid reference at memory location 0x0005432112(something like this) which has referenced mmory location 0x00000000.
Please help me as soon as possible

make sure you have installed the 1.5 patch. 1.51 patch is for call of duty:united offensive.
