:) When opening my documents on a file and try to make a change, it won't SAVE. In fact, it won't EXIT either.

I've tried everything I know! Installed spy sweeper, Avast, AVG, scanned the registry and found 1500 errors or problems; my Avast said I had 15 viruses which I removed. I went on Microsoft support, spoke to the Phillpines, also to my geek son-in-law....I STILL CANNOT SAVE OR CHANGE MY DOCUMENTS. I even tried SYSTEM RESTORE. That doesn't work either...it won't restore to ANY date.

Is it hopeless or is it going to cost me some serious money to repair? Or better yet, can one of you very smart techies solve the problem?

welcome to the forum, BostonBabe (I like it!).

Your system may still be infected with malware which hasn't been removed by the products you've used, since no single product can find everything. I advise you to send in a 'HijackThis' log which will list everything that's currently running on you PC. It's the only surefire way of checking your PC for stuff that shouldn't be on it. Download 'HijackThis' from here: http://www.spywarein....php#hijackthis

Run it to produce a log-file (essentially just a long text-file). Don't attempt to 'fix' anything with it, just post it here with a brief description of the problem: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Malware-Removal-HijackThis-Logs-Go-Here-f37.html

Please don't post the log on any other section of the forum, and be patient because the guys there are very busy analysing an increasing number of log files for our members.

:) Thanks so much for your advice.

Incidentally, I worked on the problem again last night for FIVE HOURS, till 2:30 a.m. I guess I'm determined. I even "laid hands" on the PC. They say when God closes a door He opens a window. Well, He found a "window" (is that a pun?....) that I didn't even know existed.

I "happened" to open up my SUPREME OFFICE SUITE and lo and behold I "happen" to see TEXT DOCUMENT. As my eyes widened, I started to type some text and then SAVED it and guess what???....Eureka...I mean, Hallelujah!.....it SAVED the document.

Then I went into my other documents and changed the format to save in SUPREME OFFICE SUITE and THAT worked. Wow! So, in other words, I am now using Supreme office Suite for my text documents and happily SAVING and CHANGING and EXITING successfully, bypassing Microsoft Word altogether. Thank you Jesus for answering prayer!

Nevertheless, I will take your advice on that HiJack thigamajig and see if I can get rid of the bad stuff that's preventing me from SYSTEM RESTORE. Thanks again....I appreciate your time.
