Hello, i have Verizon DSL Westell 6100 router/modem and i have been trying for about 2 weeks now to hook it up to my NEW linksys router. I use to have netgear but it didnt work with the modem so went to Radio Shack and bought a linksys and the linksys doesnt work!! I have tryed to bridge The Verizon Modem. After i put the modem in to bridge mode I Turn the DHCP off on the modem. In the linksys I set it to PPPoE and i enable the DHCP. I also change the routers networking ip number because i have herd that if the router and modem's ip number are to close then it might not work so i change the ip number... and the internet still didn't work! i have tryed neumorus things to get the internet routed but i just cant get it to work right.

If you know what im doing wrong or if you know how to fix please post and tell me.

Thank you for ur time

i'm assuming that you're using a second router so that you can have wireless right? have you contacted verizon to see if they've got a version of your modem with wireless capabilities? most of the time they will have such a thing...at which point you won't need to worry about the second router

I also change the routers networking ip number because i have herd that if the router and modem's ip number are to close then it might not work so i change the ip number...

what does that mean? what did you change? the "external" IP of the router? what's the INTERNAL IP of your modem (i.e. the ip you used to connect to the modem to turn off DHCP)....the router's external ip address should be EXACTLY the same as the modem's internal ip address except for the last set of numbers (so if the modem is 10.10.0.1 your router should be something like 10.10.0.10)
