Welcome to the forum.
Do a search for msxml . One or several msxml dll files will come up, since it's possible to have more than one xml version installed side-by-side. You'll see msxml1.dll, msxml2.dll, or msxml3.dll (or all three). Properties sheet for each of these will show exact version string (right-click->Properties).

Thanks

I've actually got 5 versions:

Msxml.dll and Msxmlr.dll

Msxml2.dll and Msxml2r.dll

Msxml3.dll and Msxml3r.dll

Msxml4.dll and Msxml4r.dll

Msxml6.dll and Msxml6r.dll

just go to windows updates...they scan your computer and tell you what you need..
I personally don't get IE 7 because I use firefox exclusively...or wmp 11 because it won't even play movies I bought...not copies of them the original dvd...also the malicious software removal toll screwed up nero twice and I had to reinstall it so never again for me anyway...
