The only noticeable issue I've had is the services.exe developing an error, closing, and then forcing my computer to restart within minutes of loading my system and my internet is horribly slow at times. Going to msconfig and setting it to normal seems to fix the services.exe problem. McAfee also blocked services.exe because of something to do with the buffer, exceeding its limit, etc. It installed WinReanimator and sent me some pop-ups and also tried emailing from my computer but most of it was blocked by different programs I downloaded to remove the virus/trojan. I think most everything has been removed already, but I'm still getting warnings and errors from spool.exe, but it's not listed in my processes. UPDATE - I removed spool.exe, but the processes listed below seem to be having issues.
I've noticed CLI.exe, svchost.exe, and cftmon.exe seem to be excessive and are suspicious to me. I received warnings that cftmon.exe was trying to access my internet. svchost.exe shows up 5-8 times with varying CPU usage, I'm sure it's fine, but I don't see why it needs to be running 5 copies of itself... CLI.exe also runs 2-3 copies of itself. If I try to end svchost.exe it will give me an error and restart my computer, much like the services.exe was doing, but I wasn't ending any processes when services.exe gave me the error.
It's a Gateway Notebook with Windows XP Media Center, as far as I know I've installed all the updates.
