cant fix disk error

i am trying to resize my partition using powerquest partition magic.
it comes back with error 122 a bad sector was found. not safe to continue.
i ran chkdsk /r but it does not repair.
can you please help?

Bad sectors are unrepairable, they are a physical fault on the surface of the disk platter. Checkdisk merely tells the operating system to ignore that part of the disk, to not read from or write to it. You need a new disk. If your operating system is still on the old one you may be able to image to the new one with the software disk supplied by the disk maker.

the bad sector is .1meg. would this be enough to make my computer run slow?
