My DVD drive's Strange behaviour

hi friends...
I hav LG DVD writer...which I bought along with my PC. I haven't played any DVD and burnt any DVD yet on this..
I just worked out with CD's..Last week when I tried to burn a DVD this my DVD writer..It is not at all burning the Disk instead
making it UNUSEABLE..and one more thing...when I am trying too use the DVD(Already with data)...actually watz happening is..when first time I am inserting any DVD..its detecting the drive and I am able to read contents perfectly..but when I take the DVD(which I put inside) out and want put another...My DVD writer not at reading the contents of that Disk..I need to restart the system and put it again..
This is My problem...plz help me in this...tell me whether its DVD writer's problem or some thing else...

what program are you using to write dvds with...nero..roxio...sonic...
