If I use the link http://download.lava...public/defs.zip the ref file inside is dated 1/4/05 :tazz: and Check For Updates from within AA doesn't work for me here at work because of firewall I think.

Thanks for any suggestions.

For these are old definitions now.

The latest definition file is posted about here:
http://www.geekstogo...tes-t18213.html

Your problem is directly due to lavasoft, as they host there definition files.

I downloaded the defs, but i am at work so i can not try the defs.

It does say that the files were modified on the 20/04/2005.

I will check later again.

Sorry that i can not be more help at this current moment.

Thank

Right,

If you would like to solve your problem at work,

Please just answer some questions.

-What internet browser do you use?
-What firewall does your computer run at work?
-What exactly happens when you try to update?

An error message?

:tazz:

If its a firewall problem, you should be able to allow that IP address through, for then you should be able to do a manual update.

-Suggestions thanks to Mitch aka The Phantom Phixer-

-What internet browser do you use? IE5.5 for SOE but personally FF 1.0.3 most of the time.

-What firewall does your computer run at work? Don't have a clue - sorry.

-What exactly happens when you try to update? Sits doing nothing for about a minute before displaying and error message, see first pic.

I also use Spybot S&D and A-Squared and find that to update them I have to open IE and change it to use a proxy instead of the automatic configuration script and leave the IE window open.

See second pic for AA config and third for IE settings

I would guess from the first picture, it might be your firewall that is blocking the update.

Does setting up Proxy fix your problem?

No it doesn't.

It used to come back and tell me there were no updates even when there mya have been 3 or 4.

Then it just stopped working completely.

Looks like I'll just ahve to d/l at home and put them on my MP3 player which works as a USB removable drive and then transfer them at work.

Thanks anyway for your help.

I seprated this from the other topic :tazz:

I would suggest that you delete your temporary internet files.

Please run CCleaner to assist in this process.
Download CCleaner (Setup: go to >options > settings > Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours")

Please delete the old zip file of the definitions,

If this does not solve your problem,

Try renaming defs.ref to defs.old.ref and redownloading the definitions

-If these suggestions do not work, the problem could resolve back to your Network Administrator, caching the webpage.

I'm only using it on the PC I specifically use at work it's not running on all work PCs or a network.

Is that still a violation of ToS ?

By the way I think that web pages are cached somewhere and that's beyond my control.
