laptop built-in wireless doesn't work.

it's a dell 1520. i run xp. it has 2gigs ram and 60gigs free space on hard drive. it used to show available networks (even if they were locked) and now it doesn't. i go to repair and it seldom connects and when it does it's only for a little while. i've had the laptop for 3 months and it worked great for 2 and 1/2 months. also, i have the problem when i try the comp in other areas, where i know wi-fi is available. thanks, boyd.
