hi there everyone, sorry about asking so many questions lately! im just getting back into this custom building business lol. could anyone tell me what the PCI express x 1 slot is for please, as ive got 2 of these. i was just wondering what sort of cards youd put in there. cheers

Expansion cards.
PCI-E x 1 slots will eventually replace the PCI slots.

As Neil Jones has already mentioned, they will slowly replace PCI slots (I wish they had long ago, would make my life easier).
Just to clarify, at this time, the transaction from PCI to PCIe x1 is quite slow. However you can find the odd NIC (network card), RAID card and sound card that supports it over PCI.
