For a number of weeks I have been trying to clean out my computer as the Firefox browser refuses to access the web sites after it posts this error message:

Fail to get XML Document from
http://d.ask.com/too...j...79&eid=100:[Exception... "Component returned failure code:0x80004005(NS_ERROE_FAILURE)[nsIXMLHttpRequest.send]"nsresult:"0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)"location:"JSframe::chrome://snpit"/content/snipit.js::ReportToWhatzup::line1571"data:no]

I would then select an old restore point and try to eliminate the virus/trojan that is causing the problem. No luck. I tried disabling the BHOs using BHO Demon and that had no effect.

I then found this site and followed the steps required before posting a HiJack report. I completed Stage 1 (including removing all the old restore points) and could not complete Stage 2 as Panda ActiveScan would not run - it opened a second window which was blank.

So, I am now at the stage where I have no old restore points to work around the problem, Firefox and IE will nor access web sites and I don;t know where to go from here. This message is being sent from my wife's Mac.
