Thunderbird won't get all mails from POP

Hi! I'm new to this forum and also to Thunderbird (TB). I'm having the same problem here which mollymeow posted a few days back. When I try to get mail from yahoo.com and yahoo.co.uk, somehow TB does not get all my mails. for example, I have 14 mails in yahoo.co.uk, TB only managed to get 2. In yahoo.com I have 700 mails and TB only managed to get 233 mails. Does anybody know why this happened?? Is something wrong with my settings? With hotmail I did not have any trouble at all downloading all 700 mails.
Another thing, does anybody know how I can transfer some mails I have in TB back to the server (hotmail)?
Any help will by highly appreciated!
