Hi EVERYONE,

Just a little problem that I hope you can help me solve.

Ok so a few weeks ago my motherboard gave in, so I shipped it off to a couple of friends who put in a new one.

Yesterday I turned my PC on and was told I had to re-activate windows xp.

There was an INSTALLATION ID on screen 9 lots of 6 digits and I rang up microsoft to get a new confirmation ID.

However they said that ther was an error, but this could be changed by re-entering my product key.

However I dont have this, it's not on my booklet and when they changed my motherboard they also threw away the old CPU case.

I spoke to a customer support officer and he saids I should speak to the PC manufacturer as they should have supplied me with a backup copy of XP

But Emachines apparently don't supply backup cds, and I bought it 6 years ago so I can't imagine they'll just give me one.

So at the momnent I can't get onto my PC and have no backup xp cds.

Could I get another verion of XP?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Could I get another version of XP?

Yes. Unfortunately, prices range from $125-$250 USD.
