Hi. I did all the scans and removal processes on my hubby's comp, but the Panda Scan still found 3 more items and I'm not quite sure how to get rid of them as I tried clearing cookies in his browser, but they still showed up again. All the other issues seem to have been fixed, which the SUPERAntiSpyware found 66 infected items (I was floored). I have had his computer on for about an hour and don't seem to have any problems with pop-ups now, as he had on here before, but I still can't get rid of these few items. I have my Activescan and Hijack This logs and can also post the previous SUPERAntiSpyware log as well if necessary, but I think all those items were cleaned successfully.

Side note -- my husband's computer is running Windows XP, not Vista as I have.

Hi there,

Welcome to GeeksToGo. My name is RatHat, and I will help you get through the process of cleaning the malware from your computer.

OK firstly, I need you to print out each post I make so that you can refer to it while we fix your computer. This is because there will be times when you are unable to be online to read my instructions, and I will want you to do everything very carefully. I also need you to follow my instructions in the order that they are given. If however, you cannot carry out one of them, please continue on with the next and let me know what you were unsuccessful with. Please ensure you turn off word wrap in Notepad. To do this, open Notepad, choose Format, then Un-check Word Wrap. (Word Wrap makes reading your log difficult).

Please uninstall the following programs:

Viewpoint Manager Service

  • Go to Start then Settings, then Control Panel
  • Choose Add or Remove Programs
  • Remove all of the above
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries list
To do this, open Notepad, choose Format, then Un-check Word Wrap. (Word Wrap makes reading your log difficult).
Please uninstall the following programs:
Viewpoint Manager Service
  • Go to Start then Settings, then Control Panel
  • Choose Add or Remove Programs
  • Remove all of the above
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7C109800-A5D5-438F-9640-18D17E168B88} - C:\Program Files\NetProject\sbmdl.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [start] C:\Program Files\NetProject\sbmntr.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)
Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please save that report to your desktop as Smitfraud.txt, and copy/paste the content into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, DSS will open two Notepad files: main.txt and extra.txt
  • Use Save As to save both Notepad files to your Desktop and post them in your next reply.
Note: A copy of these files can be found in you root drive, usually C:\Deckard\System Scanner\
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So in your next post, please include:
  • The SDFix Report.txt
  • The Smitfraud Rapport.txt
  • The DSS main and extra text's
