WinXP with SP2

I gave my mom a custom built pc with a copy of WinXP installed.
She recently purchased a Logitech webcam, but the cd will not install obviously because Microsoft will not validate the product key to download Service Pack 2.
Is there a way to get around this problem & be able to install the cam without sp2?

or

Do I have to go and purchase a WinXp w/SP2 full edition? or get the XP w/SP2 Upgrade cd instead?

Please help :)
