wireless card not detecting wireless networks

hi guys hope someone can help me here i have a gateway m320 with xp home and service pack 2 however my wireless card is not detecting wireless networks within range. i did a trouble shoot and it says device is working properly , i also updated driver , installed and reinstalled still no luck , i currently have a linksys usb wireless card plugged in and it works perfectly have not clue what else to do about the gateway built in network card .
