so as of about a week ago my printer does not work. when pluggged in it says USB device not recognized, upon further investigating of it under device manager it says driver not installed. After downloading new driver, during installation it says malfunctioning printer not responding or somethign along those lines with their basic steps of making sure it is plugged in, and making sure it is on, yada yada. anywho, what the [bleep] is going on, can someone help me?

With most USB printers the printer must NOT be hooked up to the PC's USB port until the driver setup prompts you to connect it and turn it on. That's certainly true for my Canon printer and for the Epson one I had before that. Failure to observe that will cause problems with printer detection.
