Hope someone can help me remove some very annoying malware on my friend's computer.

It puts 3 icons on the desktop: Error Cleaner, Privacy Protector and Spyware&Malware Protection. And keeps putting up popups saying that Windows has detected an Internet attack, or Worm.Win32.NetSky has been detected on the machine and automatically opens up Internet Explorer to safenavweb.com and other websites.

I've tried deleting files and registry entries to no avail. The OS is Windows XP but Service Pack 1.

I'm new to computer forums. Hope someone can help...many thanks.

I've been through the instructions under "You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log", including upgrading to XP SP2, and it seems to have resolved the problem so, many thanks.
