Our computer started to run really slow and then pop ups were coming up saying there was a virus and told us to download from a specific website to get rid of it. Well of course we didn't but 3 new icons appeared on the desktop an error cleaner and I don't remember the other ones. I would delte those and they would come back up after rebooting.Our homepage was changed and no matter how many times I changed it automatically it was changed back.Task manager was disabled also. I was about to take it and have it cleaned for a total of $180 but called my brother up and he told me to try and download AVG which I did and then spybot s&d and ad-aware and hijackthis.While looking for a forum I found yours and thanks to your malware cleaning tutorial I think it's fixed. No longer have pop ups task manager is working icons are gone. I was hoping someone could look at this and let me know if it looks ok. Thanks so much...and I absolutley love your website! Oh yeah I also have the uninstall list that was recommened to get so let me know if it's needed. Thanks again!

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O21 - SSODL: VolumeService - {4948cc67-6188-47d6-b981-ca2b4bae3f94} - C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{4948cc67-6188-47d6-b981-ca2b4bae3f94}\VolumeService.dll (file missing)
O21 - SSODL: altvxvm - {0049048D-6B91-4637-AACF-478F2ADD2A6C} - C:\WINDOWS\altvxvm.dll (file missing)

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

Go to http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.
