Hi i downloaded a virus and its driving me nuts. When i try to use explorer it wont work, When i try to bring up task manager it brings a pop up and says task manager was disabled by administrator and when i click ok it makes 30 pop ups of the same message. Programs freeze and some have problems working. can some on please help.

Im trying to send the combofix and hijack this log but it keeps telling me i have an outdated version yet i download the new version and i get the same warning

Download ATF Cleaner at http://www.atribune..../click.php?id=1
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program. Under Main choose Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use the Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use the Opera browser click 'Opera' at the top and choose 'Select All'
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Try downloading it again. It should still work...it's not outdated.

Are you still having problems running Combofix? Make sure you follow the instructions there on how to install the recovery console first before you run it.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O4 - .DEFAULT User Startup: AutoPlay.exe (User 'Default user')
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebse...arch.jhtml?p=ZU

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

AutoPlay.exe

No problem...give this a try to see if you can get it started:

1. Download combofix at http://www.techsuppo...Bs/ComboFix.exe or http://download.blee...Bs/ComboFix.exe
2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Were you able to follow the instructions for HijackThis at least? Just run the new scan and then check the two entries I mentioned above. After that, hit the Fix checked button.

You mean the combofix tool is saying you have an outdated version? Delete the one you saved to your desktop and run ATF Cleaner again to clear out your temp folders. Then try downloading it again and run it from your desktop.

For Norton Internet Security, that doesn't come with the antivirus program also does it? If so, decide whether to keep that or Avast...try not to have more than one antivirus installed. Uninstall the other one.

Open up your Notepad editor (Start->Run, type in notepad and click OK). Copy and paste the text into the quotebox below:

Save this as CFScript.txt in the same location as the ComboFix.exe tool.
Drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe
Follow the prompts. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

i think that i found those files you were asking about not sure thou. Also my avast anti virus was always in the bottom righ hand corner but ever since i did that last combo fix its not there anymore, also do you want me to uninstall my norton ?
