need help with my Linksys wmp54g modem

hello my wireless adapter is saying i have sucessfully connected to the internet and i still cant receive packets. earlier it was saying i couldnt find the internet.now it looks fixed but its not working properly. i need the info on how to fix this problem. i should be able to fix this without touching the router. its happened many times before and i am not the person who fixed it so i need input from someone on how to correct this problem with receiving packets.any help would be appreciated.

Lets renew your connection to the gateway.
  • Go to Start -> Run.
  • In the Box, type in "cmd".
  • A black box will appear. Type in: "ipconfig /release".
  • After it is done releasing. Type in: "ipconfig /renew".
  • This should renew your connection with your gateway.

ok i tried the command thing all day today and i couldnt get it to work, but someone fixed my problem so hopefully this doesnt happen again. thanks for answering my message.im back to surfing with my wireless.the someone wasa family member lol. he finally fixed it for me. yay

wishi i could but my son kept it a secret from me. i asked him to show me what i was doing wrong.he is just stubborn like that. sorry cant help anyone. it took a week for me to finally get his help.
