Hey guys. My computer has become very slow especially at startup. My browsers (IE7 and FF) dont open many sites so for that I have to use a proxy softaware called UltraSurf to help me browse all these sites. I am running Windows XP. My computer takes a lot of time to start and to run and it also hangs up often. I have Kaspersky AV and Windows Defender and my Windows Update happens automatically.
I did a scan with HijackThis.

sahil2397,

I don't see anything obvious in your log, except for some signs of leftover infection. Let's take a closer look at what's actually running.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Thanks,

sari

sahil2397,

Sorry about the delay. I have found something that looks like it might be the issue, but we'd like to take a closer look at some files and a registry key.

Show Hidden Files
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Please go to Uploadmalware to upload a suspicious file for analysis.
  • Enter your username from this forum
  • Copy and paste the link to this thread
  • Browse for this filename: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mibaretj.dll
  • In the comments, please mention that I asked you to upload this file
  • Click on Send File

Repeat the above steps for this file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\vecpxitx.dll

Now go to Start > Run, type cmd and hit enter. In the box, type the following:

regedit /e c:\runkey.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"

Exit the cmd prompt, then find c:\runkey.txt, open the file and copy and paste the contents in your next post.

sahil2397,

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediately.

Thanks,

sari

sahil2397,

I'm not seeing any evidence of malware on your PC. However, you have a lot of toolbars opening with your browser. You have Google, Yahoo, Windows Live, MegaUpload, and various items associated with each of those. I'd like you to try disabling those and seeing if it makes a difference. I would disable them all, and then re-enable them one at a time to see what happens. In IE, you can go to Tools > Manage Add-ons. You can then select each item you want to disable, and in the bottom left, under Settings, click the radio button next to Disable.

Let me know if that helps, or if any toolbar seems to make it worse.

sahil,

It's possible that SuperAntiSpyware is just finding cookies, since MBAM isn't finding anything. Do you have a report you could post for me to look at?

Thanks,

sahil2397,

Did you see my previous post? Do you have a SuperAntiSpyware log for me?

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New HijackThis log.
